At Shyama Prasad Mukherji College for Women, delivered the valedictory address at the closing of a national seminar on “Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee: Intellectual Legacy, National Vision & the Journey Towards #ViksitBharat.” The Sahitya Akademi and the SPM College organised it on the occasion of Dr Mookerjee’s 125th birth anniversary year.
Spoke on the following three themes:
Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee’s role as a stellar Democrat and “Chief Opposition Leader”, his responsible, constructive, constitutional and thorough parliamentary approach elicited wide recognition.
His stout defence of the Constitution against the Nehruvian and Congress assault on it in 1951, through the 1st Amendment.
His formidable capacity to build a wide, representative and vocal national opposition to the Congress and to Pandit Nehru.
The political tradition to which we belong has always protected, defended and safeguarded the Constitution against the repeated onslaught and attacks made on it by the Congress system.
Was happy to see engaged young learners and faculty.
