The “Holy Water Falls” – Chumi Gyatse Falls, close to the LAC-McMahon Line, in Yangtse, #Tawang, is a spot replete with lore, folklore, history, cultural and religious symbolism. A must visit, an unmissable spiritual adventure!
The legend refers to the iconic Guru Padmasambhava – Guru Rinpoche – the 8th century legendary teacher-monk often referred to as the second Buddha, who was in retreat here for five days, scattering his rosary beads from the mountain and waterfalls gushing out from the spots hit by the beads, making it one of the most unique such spots in the country.
The place is revered in Arunachal Pradesh and across the Himalayan Buddhist belt from Ladakh to Arunachal Pradesh and Tibet. One can look into Tibet from a well kept vantage point.
Besides maintaining a hawk-eye vigil, the Indian Army has made full use of its Operation Sadbhavana to creatively develop this sacred spot with a road right up to the entry of the Holy Falls, pathways, café and meditation gardens and a shrine dedicated to Guru Padmasambhava and unique rock where footprints seen are said to be his.
Here too one saw a steady and increasing flow of informed and disciplined visitors from across India, soaking in the lore, spirituality and stunningly beautiful natural efflorescence.
