Namo Buddhaya! Visited the Burmese Buddhist Temple in Mayabunder, tip of Middle-North Andaman. Founded in 1905, the Buddha Temple was an active centre for decades. The Karens from Burma had settled in Mayabunder, in the early part of the 1900s, many of the them were Buddhists as well and brought with them knowledge of medicinal plants and the Burma Dhan, a Burmese rice variety which is still cultivated in the area, and unique conservation practises. Today they remain completely integrated and adapted. Its strategic location and breathtaking beauty makes Mayabunder a crucial point in the Anandaman eco-system. Also interacted with members of the Karen community.
