Was delighted to meet once again Ven Banagala Upatissa Mahathero, President of Mahabodhi Society of Sri Lanka, Chief Sanghanayaka of Japan & Chief custodian of the sacred Buddha Relics at Sanchi. He is a great friend of India and an admirer of PM Shri Narendra Modi. He reminded us how PM Modi is the first Prime Minister to say in the UN that “Bharat has given Buddha and not Yuddha”. An institution builder and educationist Banagala Ji studied in Sarnath and narrated his many memories of this place, among other things.
