Was delighted to participate in 75th Anniversary Celebrations of “Shyama Prasad Vidyalaya” in New Delhi today. The school – then known as a branch of the Union Academy, was formally inaugurated by Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, then Union Minister for Industry and Supply, on 8th August 1948, with D.L.Majumdar ICS, a close friend of Dr Mookerjee, as president of the governing body. The school structure was overhauled and in 1957 the managing committee decided to name it “Shyama Prasad Vidyalaya” in memory of Dr Mookerjee.
