Delivered the valedictory address at the conclusion of a richly curated two national workshop on “Socio-Ethical Perspectives of Buddhist Philosophy in Sutta-Pitaka Pali” organised by Gautam Buddha University & Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR). My speech: highlighted the achievements of PM Shri Narendra Modi in preserving and perpetuating Lord Buddha’s legacy in India and the world. The revival Nalanda University and PM Modi inaugurating it within 10 days of taking oath for the 3rd time as Prime Minister. The declaration of Pali as classical language is another historic step. Both these historic steps symbolise Prime Minister Modi’s deeper commitment to Lord Buddha’s legacy and heritage. In fulfilling these two historic dreams and demands PM Modi has also fulfilled the dream of Babasaheb Dr B.R.Ambedkar. Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee and his father Asutosh Mookerjee both distinguished educationists had made seminal contributions to establishing Buddhist studies and Pali studies in India. This effort and line has been now further taken forward by leaps by PM Modi. Pali is the language of global interconnectedness. India has a special role to play in promoting and preserving the language of Lord Buddha. It is the linguistic and cultural heritage of Asia and India is the homeland of Pali. Thank to Prof Arvind Kumar Singh and team for such a great effort.
