Despite repeated appeals from his mother and a plethora of leaders from across the political spectrum, Jawaharlal Nehru refused to institute an enquiry in his sudden and mysterious death. He was cremated on 24 June 1953, in Keoratala burning ghat, in south Kolkata, amidst a mammoth crowd gathered to pay their final farewell…
